This is Trump's second term as the President. His first term was from 2017-2021. He was succeeded by Joe Biden from 2021-2025. At 78 years and 8 months, Trump also became the oldest inaugurated US president. The term of a US president is four years and the number of terms for an individual is limited to two. Donald Trump is from the Republican party. Abraham Lincoln was the first elected US president from this party, which stood for the abolition of slavery. The other dominant party is the Democratic party that Joe Biden is from. The Democratic party advocates a larger role of the government in economic matters.
Another matter that has caught public attention is the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) established by this second Trump administration. DOGE aims to cut federal (government) spendings and focusses on the modernisation of federal technology and software. DOGE is led by Elon Musk. Musk is popular for founding the rocket company SpaceX and for his role as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the electric car maker Tesla. He is the richest person in the world.
